Zippered Pouch Class

Our class just finished up less than an hour ago, and I was so happy, that I just had to write about it tonight!  Four happy makers came together on a Friday evening to learn how to make a basic zippered pouch.  Our class was held in the Practical Nursing classroom, so we had some "spectators" watching us sew...which could have been considered creepy, but we were able to laugh and sew without distraction.

For future reference, we talked about sewing machine needles and interfacing, so I am including pictures of what we used.  One of my favorite resource sites is www.michellepatterns.com.  She has a wealth of knowledge about all the intricacies of sewing pouches and bags...among other things.  Her Sewing Tips page is a great place to start, and I love her patterns.

Now it's time to think about topics for our future classes...possibly adding pockets to the pouches, more work with zippers, embellishments, actually following a pattern versus winging it...

  1. Wow! My mom and I were so inspired after last night that we went and bought fabric today in Independence! We also went to Genevieve's in Blue Springs as well! Thanks for all you do Cheryl, can't wait for our next "class"!
