This really isn't a finish, but the beginning of something and an end to my seemingly agonizing decision about what to make with my gorgeous fabric. With the way I have been thinking about, reading, and researching different quilt patterns, you would have thought I was making a decision about something life-altering. Really, it is just fabric. What is my problem!?
The Swoon pattern was considered. I have the pattern, I have watched Camille's Craftsy class, and I have browsed through the Hopping on a Swoon-A-Long on Flickr...or whatever it is called. Lots of quilters have made this quilt, so there must be something to that.
Then I found Anna Maria Horner's Spinning Stars pattern. It seemed that I kept coming back to this quilt, but something kept holding me back from starting it.
Then when I thought back to my favorite quilts to make, these have never been the ones that require a pattern. I like to do my own thing. Time to sew is limited, and I want to have FUN when I sew. So I quit spending time thinking about what I was going to sew and just dug into this loveliness.
I even cut into some of my Liberty prints...and messed up and had to recut some pieces. {Insert small cuss word} And then everything was okay.
My decision is to play and have fun sewing. As of right now, I am going to make a Spinning Stars block. Then I will give a Swoon block a try. Maybe I will throw in some flying geese or a Grandmother's Fan block or a Dresden plate or an improve log cabin or strings...get the idea? I am going to play!
I am so glad I hit your blog today! This block is just gorgeous. I love spinning stars and I just love your fabric placement and colour choice. Thank you for the inspiration! Marie x (mlismore@optusnet.com.au)
ReplyDeleteSuper fabrics! Your block looks awesome, can't wait to see the finished quilt!
ReplyDeleteI love the reds. There is something so striking about blues and reds together. I cannot wait to see what else you come up with during recess!
