A few years ago, I grabbed a book from the library that was a collection of stories and essays by famous people regarding the topic of joy. Interestingly, I happened upon a post by Phyllis Diller that affected me in such a way that I committed her "mantra" to heart.
One particularly challenging school year, right after we would say the Pledge of Allegiance, I would say my (her) little mantra and pray for a good day. Here goes:
On this happy day,
I am thankful for my blessings,
And I pray for renewed belief in myself,
and in others.
And I hope that this bond of love will expand and
envelope
the entire universe.
I thought it was a more positive way of thinking than my previous prayer of, "Dear God, please get me through this day!"
Happy Friday!
